Dean Madere - Republican Candidate for the 4th Congressional District in Colorado in the 2010 Election.
The First Question “The first question” that must be asked of any piece of legislation is whether or not it violates or surpasses the authority given to me by the Constitution. If the answer is yes, it must not be passed.”
As your congressman, my first allegiance will be to the Constitution of the United States. Part of the oath of office is to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic," This cannot be ignored. Too many times our representatives surpass the authority given to them for what they say are “the right reasons.” We must remember that if the law of the land can be ignored for the supposed "right reasons", it can be ignored for the wrong reasons as well. Principles should always win over politics.
